Returned from 6 days of touring out of the Burnie Chalet in the Howson Range. Weather/snow ran the gammut from bluebird/corn to puking/blower and all points in between. Joined by a strong skiing family from London/San Fran (the Lundgrens), a couple o guides from Leavenworth (John Race and Olivia), Christoph (the local guide) and Monica (the austrian queen of the kitchen). First couple of days we took advantage of the vis and did some nice long trips gaining over 5000' both days and getting some very nice views. Then the storms and winds hit, so we skied more sheltered terrain. A fantastic week with good folks and much good company, skiing, food and wine. Photos can't do it justice but here's a taste.

I forgot to mention that this trip was my first outing with the ABS pack (I have the 30 litre escape). I like it! The pack feels fine, and although I was skiing with guides and didn't pack as much gear as I normally would, I'm sure I could fit everything in for day tripping. I have to figure out the ski carrying system a bit better though. Christoph (the guide who owns the hut) is waiting on his. I put a lot of stock into the opinion of an highly experienced avy tech/full mountain guide, since he's all for the ABS, I feel pretty good about my decision to get one.
