The snow was knee deep with intermittent blue skies and snow clouds. Toured back to the southern rim of the Hogback Cordillera and skied the north face of the big bowl. dug a pit around 6000' and snow was powder on a consolidated base that went down about 4 feet to a hard slab. Consolidation was good.
Lost a ski in the deep snow. Will have to hike back in the late spring after the melt to look for it. Skiing on one ski is really difficult. The hike out was also a test of endurance. Cut fir branches and strapped them to the bottom of the one ski boot to act as a snow shoe to keep from post holing. It worked well.

Sorry about your ski! I was down in the trees and had a long trip out with a dislocated shoulder. Snow quality was really excellent!
No injuries on my side but pretty sore muscles the day after. Hope you heal up well, if any of your friends get back there in the spring and find my ski tell them to give me a shout here. Saw your tracks down in the trees beneath the table pretty awesome snow day.
Wow, credit to both of you guys for taking a glass-half-full approach. Those both sound like tough ordeals!
sorry to hear about the ski phil...you want to do some recon and look for it soon. I suggested to Micah that the tracks were yours, bummer we didn't run into you, maybe we could have helped.
forecast looks good...I might try and get out on Friday again, let me know.
