Just for kicks we headed up to the pass for an easy outing.
Plan A was to head up to Hyak. Saw one ancient skier in the parking lot rubbing wax on his wooden cross-country skis. He looked like the original norwegian mountain man with his very scandanavian old-timers outfit. The lack of snow on the slope was an instant demotivator. Plan B- head over to Alpental. It was pretty awful skiing but my dog LOVED it and it was a splendid day to just get out. Finally felt like WINTER.
Headed up under Sessel then cut over under Lower International to traverse several solid avy debris swaths. A skiff of new on top of crunch and rain runnelled paths. Saw a guy with a chainsaw cutting his Christmas tree at the top of Debbie's Gold. Then we headed up a bit further past the base of chair 2.
Good day to check out the snow pack and what base layers we will have for the season.
Thanks Mary ,  keep those reports coming.
