Between in-laws, the holidays and a knee surgery recovery schedule, early season powder had been a scarce commodity for me. Thankfully I have efficient social coordinators, who found the gap in the with CPC the year before and they'd been working on plans for getting self-guided touring groups into their property -- we were their trial balloon. Over the summer they added a second story to the yurt, with bunk beds upstairs and a nice kitchen/living space below, wood heat, propane burners, etc.
The low on Thursday night was -19 C and the daytime high didn't feel much warmer. We got through a brief avy scenario in plenty of time to head out for an afternoon tour -- the snow was fantastic, as expected, but there was a strong wind that made it tough to stay warm, so we kept moving until it was time to retire to the wood stove (which was earlier for me than for everyone else).
The wind raged all night and we woke on Saturday to a scoured landscape. Thankfully, the terrain is varied and there's plentiful tree skiing down low -- we ran laps on protected terrain all day and found plenty to keep us satisfied. Bluebird skies and much more manageable temperatures made it even easier.
The weather held on Sunday and we harvested as much of the snow as we were able before pointing our skis (and paws) down the road and skiing back to Scenic. A highly recommended place to spend some time -- the touring options are fantastic and the operation is really well run. Happy New Year!

The first photo is great plus the gladed terrain in the video looked ideal.
The peak in the first photo is Rock Mountain with its West slope showing.
Often wondered what North side of Windy Mtn like:
