its gonna be a while before I have a ski day that tops today I think
a handfull of turns on crusty snow at the top of the slot gave way to boot-deep powder for the rest of the run...fantastic turns.
skinned/booted up the chute at the head of the cirque back over the the south side of Snoqualmie and to our amazement the valley fog (which had now burned off) kept the sun from cooking the south facing slopes, so we traversed into the phantom and enjoyed more powdery turns all the way back to Alpental.
Three of us opted for ducking back into the woods to detour around the phantom falls...one energetic soul opted for the more direct route and put a little air under his skis.
Unreal day out there....great snow, blue skies....and winter is just starting.

Nice report and pics Pete. We did the Chair Peak circumnav today and found similar conditions. Was thinking the slot would be good today. pretty amazing day for early season!
How did you like that sweet skintrack right up to the slot entrance? I bet you were stoked when you looked over the edge and realized the slot was untouched! Or maybe our downtracks were a giveaway? Anyway, nice work!
i was wondering who put that skin track in....no trailbreaking, yet an untracked slot was quite a surprise :) gracias.
Nice report Pete and thanks for avoiding all of the photos of me on my face after jelly legs from the previous torture day at Crystal chasing you fixed healers around the hill. I wished you would have captured my 20' launch though...HAH!
ross, you need to take your tele gear to the Shanghai ski dome so your legs will be better prepared for your next trip to the PNW ;D
Nice work Pete! Very impressive photo's and report. Can not wait to ski the Slot...
