Matthew and I skied the Chiwaukum Traverse S-N yesterday. Conditions were wintry! Poor visibility above about 7,000’ with strong winds and new a bit of new snow. On the south end consistent snow started at about 6,000’. Coverage was good on the traverse with a couple short sections of booting. We were able to squeeze a 1,500’ descent out of the Swath. At 5,000’ we took the skis off and traversed skier’s left above a large cliff then followed a nice low-angle rib with minimal brush down to the road. Walking the road sucked with tons of slide alder, I think going straight down the forest is easier. I will have to come back in the winter and ski the Swath when there is actually snow in it, that would be a lot more fun (and scary).

Very cool! I was wondering if this still goes this late into the season. Thanks for posting!
