Messy up, alternating ice crust and slippery thawed ice crust, ski crampons were the order of the day. Down was the same in reverse. Survivial skiing, bonus of some wind packed, weird non sun affected styrofoam pow low down (>50 feet in total)=best turn of the day, beautiful day overall. Nothing you hadn't guessed, in other words. Very light precip came in late in the day-we only need about 18 inches now! Rutschblock (dug approx 48" down, did not move for repeated jumps).
Good job digging out for the RB!  We were out the other day and didn't think we wanted to damage our shovels.  There's a lot of hunters out there, and not many gatherers. ;D

had a new tourer w/ us, wanted to show him that digging pits is the fun part!
