Thanks to 21st century double doppler weather reports, I decided to head for Paradise after all despite the rain at my house 6-7AM and later.  Departed home at the respectable hour of 8, started walking toward the Paradise Glacier at 11.  Got two runs like Ron J did last week (except mine were only 750' each, where the heck do you get those extra 250' Ron?).  Weather was good with dissapating cumulus during the afternoon, the TV had showed me that Rainier was not cloud covered like Centralia to Everett.  Wish I'd had lots of company to smooth the slope, but the cups were only A or B, not bad for August.

Also saw three guys who'd hiked up and skied down the only steep slope (on the West edge) of the Paradise glacier that is relatively crackless.  Classic lenticular on the summit after 4PM.

Thanks to Ron for encouraging me to head for the usual August/Sept site with his report of last weekend.  And thanks again to Charles for providing this excellent forum!  September is gonna be grim unless the rain festival starts early this winter, and temps cool down.
Sounds like a good ski for August...will there be enough snow there for me and some buddies to ski the August 17th-19th?  How much is the permit there?  Thanks.

Looks like if you'd have waited a day and went with Kam and (the Rock Star) Skipper, you'da stretched them 2 runs out to 1,000  ;D

Nice report, Silas.
