Skied the snowfield (Muir to PC) and the chutes (Muir to chutes to vista). Snowfield skied better at 3 pm than at noon. It's getting cuppy, but it's superb for August. Best snow was on extreme skiers right (don't wind up in the Nisqually). Best elevation was near pebble creek. Paradise glacier looked possibly smooth. Most folks will probably want to start skinning at or above Pebble Creek.
It was my first time down the Chutes, and I had a ball. The entrance is getting a little thin, but the route skied well. Some runnel formation and attention-grabbing rockfall craters; I'd consider bringing a helmet for the latter. The skiers' right apron gave up the best turns of my season at 3:30pm; slightly oversoftened but smooth corn. Sidestepped and booted up to Glacier Vista, then skied until it was sensible to rejoin the trail.
Photos to come later.
