Hi. This is my first post, hope I do okay.
My son, Graham, and I skied Denny Peak with the dogs on April 9, 2008. Mostly sunny day which makes for a good ski tour. Suspected there would be a crust down low and powder up above. Sure enough, a solid crust up to about 4k and then nice, dry powder.
We followed an established skin track from the day before (thanks). Arrived at the top about 10:20 AM then made a quick switch to downhill mode. I cut "International" to make sure there was no danger and it was bomber, no movement at all.
The first 1,000 feet was great powder. The next 500 feet was soft but sun affected and the last 500 feet still had a crust but the sun had warmed it just enough to make even that fun.
Not an adventerous tour to say the least, but quick and easy and quite fun. The area is only open weekends past this week, so a great place for an easy tour. Hope to see you ther or out in Chair Peak basin some day.

Awesome that the little pooch made the climb too! Did he stay in the skin track? I could never train my dog to do that...
nice read, good info. Thanks for the tr! Sounds like you guys had a good time!
Sorry that I could not figure out how to download the actual picture, but glad you were able to access them via the website that stores photos.
The little Jack Russell does an exceptional job climbing. Simply put, I cannot tire her out. On the way up she always stays in the skin track and on the way down follows my turns. When its really deep (Feb in Chair Peak basin) she actually stays on top due to being light and small, kind of like my son.
The Golden lab, on the other hand, bounces straight down the slope, making for dollar sign ($) tracks. :)
