Trying to find some slope that would not get cooked in the afternoon, we headed up the usual Heather (Skyline?) Ridge road to the higher cell phone tower. Luckily someone had preceded us, since the 10" of new snow was very wet and heavy in the sun, and nice and fluffy in the shade.
Skinning out of north facing slopes seemed too much work, so we decided to follow the previous party of three. They stayed close to trees on a SE aspect, and we found fresh tracks in heavy, wet snow, thin crust, and powder. The best powder was under trees below the normal out track.
Tomorrow will be interesting, maybe some solid crust on S aspects? Otherwise maybe unpleasant.
