April 10, 2004, Mt. Snoqualmie

Headed up via Commonwealth Basin and up to the Guye-Snoqualmie ridge quite near Guye.  I wonder if the approach shown by Volken which gains the ridge north of the Cave Ridge hump is better.  By the time we got to the real base of Snoqualmie mountain it was a huge pile of slush, we were beat, and we contented ourselves with touring up to a ridge at about 5400 feet.  There were two snow bridges in the Commonwealth Basin flats area that were tenuous and are unlikely to last much longer, one on the east side just as you reach the flats and one on the west just before you start climbing.  We saw people over on Red including one ski descender.
