After a late start, went up the Commonwealth Basin past Red Mt., following a set of skin tracks from either very early in the day or Friday - very easy and fast skinning on crusty semi-frozen corn. Made one unnecessary creek crossing over logs without incident, and went up the right side of the small bowl to look down on the Katwalk. Much less snow than usual for this time of year - skiing was marginal, with crust that broke through at the finish of each turn turning to unconsolidated corn mush lower down. Most exciting part of the trip was seeing tracks on the north facing chutes further south on Kendall Peak (the left part of the "twin chutes" at far right of the above picture), and a skin track heading up to the area along Silver Creek - any TAY people want to own up?
8) OK Greg, the cat is out of the bag.  What you were seeing were the tracks from Ben H, Mason, and myself that kicked off "The Gold Creek High Route".  I plan on doing a full post complete with photos once my work schedule calms down and I have a chance to put it up.  BTW we have aptly named those chutes "The Twins".  Keep it cool brother.

Ben H the guiding fireman? Can't wait for the TR!

Yup, The guiding fireman.  Hope to get my act together and get a TR posted.
