Red eyed to Stowe Vermont last Thurs. for 48 hr. visit.  My first  trip with feet on the ground to the East coast. My girlfriend's family live at the base of the Stowe ski mountain. I was not able to bring my gear.  So this trip report is not as fun as the others.  To work off my jet lag we walked up the closed highway to Smugglers Notch. This lays between the two resorts. Lots of  cross country skiers and walkers. This road has alot of access to some good touring.

The picture with the ice and snow runout. I found a few of these along the road. I was abit curious to see a snoweshoer (who is not pictured) make a bee line up the path of the runout. The ice and snow slid a good 1500 ft. off the granite cliffs.  There might some potential for avy classes in the area. Yikes.  I was impressed with Vermont so I thought I would share my trip.
Thanks for an update from the EAST....
