I decided to do this tour clockwise and went across Snow Lake rather than trying to attempt to go up the funnel and over the notch on the way out. Conditions were foggy in the Alpental Valley at 8:30 when I departed. I made my way up near Bryant Peak Col and got above the fog. There was not a cloud in the sky. The ski down to Melakwa Lake was OK. There was about 3"on crust and I got the section skiers left of the cliffs to slide. Once I got the skins back on I stayed on the left side of the valley towards Melakwa pass b/c there were some slow moving releases on the other side. Over all the skiing was best on the north and west aspects. There were some icy sections that were wind effected. Got to Alpental bar @ 1:30 and after a couple of beers the clouds lifted in the valley. It should be a good day tomorrow if you can get out.

Is the Bryant Peak Col between Bryant and Chair, or is it South of Bryant? We did a dawn patrol this morning part way up Chair Peak Basin -- We followed tracks of a single skier and a dog from yesterday. There were boot tracks of a single headed up between Chair and Bryant.
Very little in the way of other traffic from yesterday. Stability today was really good--I was amazed how well the new snow had bonded to the hard crust below. The only really good turns were in Chair Basin and they were very good. We went about a third of the way up and had to turn tail and head to work.

The Col is between Chair and Bryant. I did have 2 short boot tracks including to one to the col that you may have seen. There were 2 guys with a dog who showed up just as I was getting ready to leave. I also saw their + dog tracks on my way out.
The skiing was excellent from Melakawa Pass down to Chair lake and again to Snow Lake. I hate to say it but the best turns so far this year.
