about 2 feet of new snow last 2 days.; got to pkng lot at about 10 a.m., sunny and warm. Broke trail thru deep snow from the lot to 4th Xing up to near the top of Mazama Ridge, stopped when thick ground-level clouds moved in; saw lots of cracks and slid snow under the new 4 inches or so on the way up. Going up, the snow was powder, coming down a sun crust was forming over heavy wet cement. Nice day :-) Didn't see another person once I left the lot ;D
Alone--that's the proper etiquette!

Whoa! Sorry to hear that Robie. The deer (and there are lots!) around here are pretty tame from being fed (sometimes by hand) in my neighborhood and from people feeding them from cars. I'm sure I have seen that deer if the accident happened before Stone Creek cabins. One has to be super alert and slow between the park entrance and Copper Creek and even to Ashford. In the park, during the summer, just down from Cougar Rock, on my motorcycle, I had the opportunity to count individual hairs on a deer that darted out of the brush in front of me; so close I didn't even have time to react; he was faster than men, thankfully. I had to shudder yesterday as some guy in a Jeep Cherokee passed me by the Gateway Inn just as I was putting my turn signal on to turn left; he probably was hitting 45 mph as he passed me--I glad a deer or elk was around the corner (for the sake of the ungulates not the asshat).
The deer attack took place between Ashford and Elbe . Just west of metal sculpture guy.
