Sorry no pics - we both forgot our cameras. Too bad - we were both also cursing this fact, as the views were great from the top. We opted for the slog up Smithbrook to maximize time on shaded slopes. It is a slog, but soon it was over.
Early lunch in the middle of Lichtenwasser lake in the sun was nice. It was amazing how bloody cold it got as soon as we got into the shade on the south end of the lake. The shady part of that basin stayed very cold today. It was interesting how much warmer it got up on the ridge as well as as soon as we turned the corner around the ridge to the basin that leads up to the pass above Valhalla.
Good turns from both the east peak and just below the main peak (which didn't seem worth getting 80-100 feet higher on). We saw a few other parties out and about in the distance, but once we left the road, didn't see anyone close up until nearly back to the road, where we saw a couple who was enjoying a new years campout for a few nights.
Not the best tour for maximizing time in the fall line, but we very much enjoyed it nonetheless..
Oh, and at least as of mid-afternoon, no one had added any marks on the face of Jove since Kenji's trip a few days back. Looked so nice, but soooo far back...
Happy New Year.
