Allen, Brian (skier8484) and I decided to try to beat the hungover crowds on 1.1.11, so we headed off for Barometer peak, near Mt. Baker, to see what we'd find. Turns out that in addition to some great skiing on the approach, Barometer offers some wonderful fall line turns, and a less-than-heinous escape to 542 via the old logging road at the valley bottom. All-in-all, it was a great way to start off a new year (even though everyone knows the year really starts with first turns of the season...)

Our objective for the day:

The Mt. offered some sweet turns in the wind buff:

Beginning to plot our escape:

Anyway, there are more photos from that adventure, and others that took place during this high pressure window http://www.famousinternetskiers.com/trip-reports/10-11/high-pressure/ for those that are interested.

Couldn't agree more.  Great to check out some new terrain.  Although I'm still upset at the jerk driver of the Westfalia that passed us while we were attempting to hitch-hike back to Heather Meadows!

Nice photos.  I encountered presumably the same cougar tracks down in that valley on 11/30.  A fairly rare occurrence.  Parking low and hitching in the morning is a far easier strategy that unfortunately now requires a Snow Park Pass.  You'll get picked up quick!

Solid as always, gentlemen.
