I'd prefer that anyone wishing to use the circumstances of a multiple fatality at least wait a respectful amount of time before trying to use it to make a point, whether related or not.

The situation as reported may have tangential bearing on the point being made....but do we need to seize so quickly upon the death of a child to try and score points about inbounds skinning or presumed differences between skiers and snowboarders?

The two groups mentioned in the "moderated" thread were not accessing backcountry or touring the  regular route along periphery of quicksilver to reach SB. Both were seen climbing on, repeatedly crossing and skining up the middle of Crystal's busiest and most congested groomers.

It would only take a colllison, complaint or fear of collision for Crystal to forbid the uphill travel which they currently permit. They would be quite able to do so within their operating pemit regardless of it being public land - many ski areas have already done so.

That would be most unfortunate and something I'd want to take up face to face with those responsible for causing, rather than hide behind whiney complaints to the operators of a chat board.

and if you're unable to assess the risks of touring against the flow of downhill, often out of control or novice skiers - have you got any business practicing or training to ski in the backcountry?

... yes in my view, from my perspective,  it is a fact to me, that generally  TAYers are predisposed to skinning in ski areas..why... ...

LOL. From my perspective, at least some TAYERs avoid ski areas like the plague ...they would rather ski the backcountry than go to the skiing mall. :)

Between the fact that the bodies are still warm, that we just did this conversation (with limited success) and the early trend in the thread, I'm going to close this up.

My condolences to the families involved. A terrible accident indeed.
