I have one.

Bought it from a euro shop to supplement my beacon and avalung.

The cord is SPECTRA and ultra strong so there's not much concern of it breaking.

People get rusty. And as much as I wish everyone around here can pull off a sub-5 min retrieval under pressure, reality is not so kind.

The Ball provides an instant visual locator. You can pinpoint a victim's location before anyone else in the group has time to switch to SEARCH, it's that quick.

It also enables anyone present on a accident scene to be a responder, not just the rare few of us who wear a beacon.

It's not a wonder tool on it's own, but another arrow in the quiver, and in my opinion, a very very useful one in a real live situation.

Those are good points, Plinko, especially enabling non-beacon-ed bystanders. I'm much more comfortable with the prospect of using the ball as a quick visual indicator and a beacon/probe for the pinpointing.

Forgot to mention, I have an extra one of these that's brand new in the box if anyone is interested... You know you wanna try it! :)

Thanks,
