SLUSH CUP TIME -- 8/16!!

Whichever Sunday that has a good forecast sounds good.  I think only one year we had dreary weather that kept participant numbers down. 

We will have new costumes this year, should be a hoot!  I think Amar is bringing water wings to avoid any cold submersions like last year, or maybe just a life vest, but water wings would be more costume like.

Evil Knievel ripped the crotch out of his suit last year launching the kicker, hmmm, I think only the coconuts and Josh's tu tu survived. 

I'm wrapping myself in bubble-wrap from head to toe and staying away from mountain biking and pond hucking.

There's doctors for these types of conditions...

I'd really like to come to come this year and bring the little guy.  It's already time to indoctrinate.  Sadly there may be conflicts, but i'm gonna try to see if if I can make it happen.

I may have an overactive imagination but the more times I read this sentence the funnier it sounds…

FWIW, hiked past on the normal winter route today on the way to Foss Pk. and was surprised how little snow remains.  The NE aspect below Pinnacle Pk is completely bare.  There's still snow down to the tarn on the direct north aspect, but I'd recommend scheduling this event ASAP.

Gary, the best pond skimmers seem to prefer more open water to higher snow coverage :

Last year they went to great lengths to move some large blocks of ice out of the way in order to perfect their "long line" water skimming prowess
Few start from the top of the snowpatch anyway... they climb only high enough to reach "termanal velocity" by straightlining direct for the pond. :

So here's what the tarn looked like as of Sunday, August 2nd.

The recent warm weather seems to have take it's toll but there still appears to be roughly twice as much ice floating in the pond as the "pro skimmers" prefer. Additional pics HERE .

With the forecast for this week and the next weekend for cooler weather it appears to me that we should definitely shoot for 8/16 as the official "SLUSH CUP DATE".

I will be there on the 16th with the "rescue rope". JW said he's in with the official Slush Cup Life Ring and Tunes.

Anyone else coming?
