RFID. All kinds of possiblities here. Invisible Rope Line. You won't be able to get on the lift because your pass was deactivated and you counldn't get past the scanner in the lift line. Think about it. Remote controlled BC gates.

Uh oh. That just changed my mind, now i'm against it. ;)

As for gates - mixed bag. If you have a seasons pass the gates are really a breeze and i found it to be much faster. Armband with a pass and you are right through. Day tickets suck - the feeding of a ticket into the slot to read can be tricky (and I dont want to imagine being 6'5" attempting it in a storm). As for lockout it is meant for what is detailed below, so you dont hand your pass to a buddy behind you.  Ideally there are lifties there paying attention and when you get a double scan they just wave you through... utopia.

Hmm, I was at Bachelor this Winter and I don't remember having to feed my ticket into any slot. I was able to just hold up to the "sensor", I had a day ticket.

Stevens is touting the "hands free" advantage of the system, so I think any type of ticket will be readable through your clothing. I sure hope so as helping a 5 year old in mittens feed a ticket through a reader would be a serious pain.

That's not the worst of it, I'm afraid.  Apparently if you buy a 3pm-close season pass and get there a little early, they know who you are and assume you want to buy a full-day pass.  They never ask, they just bill you. ::)

This happened to me, and unfortunately, I got to find out that their accounting department is just a bunch of crooks.  I assumed that since these automated charges weren't specified in the terms & conditions, nor anywhere on the website, that they would be willing to drop them.  After all, how can you just make up charges that were never agreed to?  But no, they are now threatening me with a collection agency of all things! >:(

I'm currently disputing this through the BBB... wish me luck!  And please, don't give your money or personal information to those crooks.  Go to a different ski resort.
