El Nino- Doom and Gloom?

"In Strong El Niño seasons, California typically has huge snowfalls..."

I like the sound of this...If anyone is thinking of heading down to Tahoe for some skiing this winter, you should let me know and we can meet up for some powder adventures.

Here are two links with lots of background info on the Walker circulation, El-Nino and any connection to climate change.  They are from realclimate.org, a website with "Climate science from climate scientists."  Since it was started, realclimate.org has really blossomed into a wonderful site;  highly recommended reading for anyone interested in climate change.

Here's some more info that suggests El Nino isn't the be all, end all prediction tool for our neck of the woods. Cam Campbell suggests the PDO index is much more appropriate:

Did'nt anyone take statistics? Averages don't mean anything, especially when determining how FUN a ski season will be. Yeah 04/05 sucked for snowfall, but I still had some really good days. Let's not get our panties in a bunch just yet.
