Baker lifts weren't turning but lodge was open

This is the message on the current update from the snow report from Mt Baker Ski area:

Regardless of the status of our lifts, we will have the Heather Meadows lodge open this Saturday and Sunday with food service and live music.

I'll probably be up there this weekend and I'll try to stop by the lodge to grab a bite or a beer after I take off my boots.  There's obvious tension between backcountry users and the ski area and it would be good to see the two sides come together as one community of skiers, one step we can take is to buy food from them if we're using their facilities.

And today the lifts are turning and the lodge is open.

Who doesn't love a classic 33 degree storm day at Baker? Hope it was worth the drive!
