I read a great list in an old issue of a ski rag years ago.
It was the Top Ten Reasons Climbing Skins are like Condoms!

I remember a few, perhaps we can fill in all 10 (or 20)
  • They are more fun if someone else puts them on.
  • Nobody likes to use them but sometimes you have to put them on to go where you want to go.
  • If not put on properly they can fail.
  • If they fail it can mean trouble.
  • If not stored properly after use they can be messy.
  • They come in synthetic or natural.
  • Some claim synthetic are more durable but the natural ones glide better.
  • They are available in multiple colors.

Can anyone think of more? (sorry, couln't make the "list" function work)

The hairs are the right length and do not get in the way of normal movement.
They are sticky.

you don't need them to go down.

most guys buy them bigger then they need.

love the new party colors!

they pop off when you are least expecting them to.

an experienced guy can make do without.

But it's smart to have them when you go into the backcountry.
