I think the park utilizes NWAC forecasts to evaluate avalanche risk and since they are not issuing forecasts yet, the park will take a very conservative approach to avalanche hazard is my speculation.
With a two day search and rescue operation just concluded, both the park personnel and the SAR volunteers probably need time to recover.
Besides the Weather forecast for Wednesday is "snow likely" and Thursday is "mostly sunny" -- Looks like rain on Saturday

The skiing was pretty bad. The new snow had turned into about two feet of wet concrete. Not going to lie...it was a rough way to start the ski season.

Check the tweets. Park personnel were reporting extreme avalanche danger during the rescue today; more snow tonight; it would not be surprising if they decide not to open the Longmire gate tomorrow--if so, I will sad not glad, feel dissed and very pissed.
Whose tweets the Mount Rainier NPS handle? Extreme avy danger that doesn't add up -- somebody help a sister out! What's going on?
