This blurb was in the latest email newsletter from the Alpine Club of Canada:

Mountain News
Manaslu avalanche

A massive serac fall on Manaslu (8156m) in Nepal has claimed several lives. Revelstoke's Greg Hill survived, but Quebec cardiologist Dominique Ouimet is missing. Glen Plake, one of the survivors, said "It was a major, major accident. There are up to 14 people missing. There were 25 tents at Camp 3 [6800m] and all of them were destroyed, 12 tents at Camp 2 [6300m] were banged up and moved around ... I was swept 300 meters over a serac and down the mountain and came to a stop still in my sleeping bag, still inside the tent, still with my headlamp on." Read more at ottawacitizen.com

More info grom Greg Hill's website. Sounds like it was pretty horrible up there. The photos of the location of camp that got wiped out made me cringe.

Friend of mine was at Camp 2 here when this happened. His tent was destroyed and his friends was buried but not fully.

He said a sherpa came walking down the glacier with no shoes on asking for help. Pretty surreal and horrid experience to have to go through this. They have since turned around and he's heading back to the states soon.

I read that Glen Plake was reading his bible when the avalanche hit at 4:30 am, last Sun. I also saw that the last avalanche of this size occured back in the 70's.
The Dynafit team was there also, but were at Camp 1.
