posting pics from Flickr was created by jackal
Had a frustrating night recently trying to post pics from Flickr. I'd get "division by zero" messages. Marcus helped me figure it out. There's one more step from the posting directions which say this:

"Above the post window is a row of buttons labeled "Add image tags". Click the "image button", the first in the row. This will insert the "image tag" code at the current end of your text (you can copy/paste it wherever you wish). Delete the part of the tag which reads "PASTEimageURLhere" and replace it with the full URL for your image's location on the Web."

For Flickr, go to the image you want, like here:
www.flickr.com/photos/jackmc/7512048150/...t-72157630443428752/
Note this URL does not end in .jpg.
Next you want View All Sizes. For Marcus, he said it was in the upper right hand corner. On my Mac it's in Actions (not sure if that's a Mac/PC thing).
Then right-click on the image and come up with this URL:
farm9.staticflickr.com/8282/7512048150_5fe792f065_b.jpg
Note this ends with .jpg
This is what replaces "PASTEimageURLhere"

Not sure if this is an issue with other image sites, but thanks Marcus for unleashing Flickr users.

Happy to help Jack -- I'll flesh out the details on getting the right URL in the photo instructions.

I know the site software is a bit clunky when it comes to getting images into place -- it's on the list to update at some point.

"Division by zero" has plagued me for years when using Picasa.  I tried your method for Picasa, but I don't have an "all sizes" option under the "actions" tab.  Any ideas?  I would love to post pictures in the thread instead of providing a link.

What browser are you using? And are you on a Mac or a PC? I don't use Picasa, but there have been others here who've had the same error when using it. Sometimes the fix is a URL problem, others it's been security, i.e. a public "viewable" album.

You can PM me a link to the album and I can take a look if you like.

Every image on the Web has a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). There's much confusion between a URL and a URI - a URI is actually the full string from "http" to the file extension (e.g. "jpg", "png", "gif"). When embedding a photo in a message board post you want the URI of the image (e.g. " farm9.staticflickr.com/8282/7512048150_5fe792f065_b.jpg ").

You can find this in most modern browsers by right-clicking the image and choosing "View Image Location" or "Copy Image Location". For example doing this on the logo in the upper-left corner yields the URI " www.turns-all-year.com/tayshad75.gif ". Then all you need to do is put the URI of the image between a pair of
Code:
[img][/img]
tags and you're good to go:

For example:
Code:
[img]http://www.turns-all-year.com/tayshad75.gif[/img]
Is rendered as:
