Treewell death at White Pass Sunday

Condolences to family and friends -- and to the patrol folks that had to recover the deceased.

From what I read she was the last of a group down and fell in. DOing the right thing skiing in a group but the tailgunner runs a dangerous risk similar to skiing alone if falling into a tree well and friends are separated. This could have happened to anyone here I'm sure, its so easily done. Sad indeed. Part of the reason I always wear the avalung backpack inbounds although someone still has to dig you out.

The girl who passed away, her boyfriend is the son of a long time friend. I was told that there was a group of about 6 of them skiing together and she somehow got separated. The others tried to find her but when they had no luck they got the ski patrol involved. I believe she was 22 and they had been dating about 3 yrs. She was said to be a good skier, but as we all know these accidents can happen to anyone. Very sad...
