Maybe the best approach tool ever? was created by skibum
A jetpack. Yes, i said a jetpack. It might disrupt the peace of the the backcountry, but how cool would it be to strap a jetpack to yourself and ski up a nice long approach. Also very portable! www.stumbleupon.com/su/1FBXO0/dvice.com/.../jetpack-skiis-m.php

would love to see what happens when the skier catches an edge and can't hit the off button before they go down....

I think that the video might be a fake! I see no jet nozzles or jet-like action coming from the "jetpack" that they never really give you a full veiw of. I also notice that alot of the time the skier seems to have his left hand holding onto something like he is being pulled along by a snowmobile mabee? he or she may also be getting a tow from his left ski tip. The uphill scenes are somewhat convincing but he could have had enough speed from a snowmobile to coast up that hill and it looks like they may have speeded up the video to give the impression that he or she is accelerating.

dunno - (if real) might be a good rush to do this, but I can imagine it's going to be loud and smelly. Not what I'm after in the mountains. And yes - hate to think what happens if you take an unexpected fall, etc.

Btw, there was something about black diamonds, and these hills seemed pretty lame - but if that's all to be had...

You can see snow getting kicked up behind him and it looks more like jet blast than rip coming off the trailing edge.... Skiing mag also wrote about it on their website..

Was this posted on 4-1-11????

All I know is I want some surplus UAV jet engines! :)
