Your chance to make comments to Mt. Rainier NP; too early to reserve flights yet.

Hmm.. 114 flights per year... With a number like that you can ensure that the price will remain pretty high..

Considering they probably have an average of 200 cars per day it seems a bit strange to see a limitation like this..

Well, how many out of 365 days are suitable for flying? Maybe more than 114, but probably not too many more.

up to 4 flights/day--could get them all done in 29 prime sunny days   ... or 114 sunny days.

Note this is for commercial tourist flights only, does not include Park Service air traffic (helicopters and airplanes used for maintenance, surveys, and search and rescue), military air traffic (helicopters and airplanes, primarily from Ft. Lewis to Yakima Training Center), commercial airliners (generally fly quite high), or private sightseeing helicopters and airplanes.

I'm for keeping all commercial air tours outside the Park boundary.  The south side air space seems crowded enough with multiple flights most days by military helicopters commuting along the south boundary between JBLM and the Yakima Firing Range.  Corey makes a great point about the weather concentrating flight use.  The Mountain is already an irresistible draw to many pilots on nice days, with small planes & also military jets often violating the voluntary 2K ground-clearance rule.  Then there's the NPS's own heavy reliance on helicopters for SARs, research, supply flights to backcountry ranger stations, and turd removal.  Besides the disturbance to visitors & wildlife, adding more aircraft to the mix seems to me to be a recipe for tragedy.
