Would anyone like to discuss the weather? was created by Jimmy Row
Anyone care to discuss what NOAA realeased today (specifically what it means to the PNW)? That is if ALL of you are not superstitious.
Analog years? Sunspots? Farmers Almanac?
I for one, had a great winter (06'-07') last time IT was announced.
Let's Discuss.

No, I'm scared to. :-[
I've wasted the summer willling the winter to come as fast as possible and I've got too much invested.

I'm concerned and have a plan in place. I have a bowl of water with a fan blowing on it on my back porch. The cool evaporating water chilled with the fan will keep temps low this winter and will provide more precip.

I presume you mean the NOAA
outlook
that continues the predictions of a middling El Nino.
I'm glad to see that their older predictions continue to remain in-line with the current one. That's what you want from your forecasters (unless they're consistently wrong)! Snow-wise, I've hedged my bets with frequent trips to California...
If you're superstitious, just re-up your Friends of the NWAC membership . With N of two, my contributions to NWAC (late fall 2007, early Feb 2009) have yielded significant snowfall for the remainder of the season - perhaps if we all do it, we'll get a snowpack that yields good corn into next October....

I'm sure most of you long time junkies have already read Mark Moore's
paper
regarding El nino. If you haven't, it comforts me whenever this discussion arises. All of this hoopla is, afterall, statistics. Of which everyone knows 37% are wrong.

Well, this weekend felt like living in a warm wet sock, and I'm still wearing my shorts...
