Mega Ride Boot Fit was created by filbo
Looking for some info on how the Garmont Mega Ride boots size up compared to shoe size. One chart says a 28 is for a mens 11 and another chart calls for a 29. There are some good deals available on this boot via catalog. Anyone who has used this boot and could tell me how their size fits in comparison to their shoe size would be a great help to me in figuring this one out. My Scarpa Denali's are a 28 for my 11's and fit great, but these are Garmont, so the small quandry. Thanks for any enlightenment.

In my experience, Scarpas have bigger volume in the toe box and instep than Garmont, however the Garmont have bigger heel cups. I'm a 10.5 running shoe, and a (tight) 27 in Garmont. If you are a tight 28 in your Scarpas, you very well may need to size up to a 29 in the megaride. Keep in mind that it's easy to make a boot that's too small bigger by blowing out the plastic than it is to "shrink" a boot that's too big.

Mega-Rides are an Italian product. Like all footwear and clothing manufactured by Italians, the Mega-Rides are sized a bit small. I have small feet for my height/size, so Mega-Rides are a fine choice. It's always good to pay attention to fit with ski boots, but it is especially important with Mega-Rides. If you wear a size 10 shoe, you probably want a 28 or 28.5 to prevent discomfort. Otherwise stick with Scarpas ( which I hear are better for larger feet/larger builds. )

The chart that says size 28 MegaRide equals a size 11 US can't be right. I pretty consistently wear a US 10.5 and I've always wished I had sized up to the 28 MR. True, you can blow out the shell easily for width, but it's a lot harder to get extra length if you get them too short. I think the mondo point system is based on the length of your foot in cm (you should be able to get close by standing on a piece of paper and marking the location of your heel and longest toe). FWIW, my larger foot measures right in between 27.5 and 28cm and like I said, the 27.5 is just slightly shorter than I'd like. Good luck...

I wear size 10 running shoes and have 300 mm sole length MegaRides. Not sure what size that is mondo point. Best fitting ski boots I've owned though. Good luck!

Everyone is different, but if your denalis fit great, I'd definitely try on the megas before buying. Denalis were awful for me, but megas were great. Very different fit IMO.
