Not to say I don't like spring touring, but I am really more of a powder seeker and already thinking about ski trips for next year.  I'd be interested in other people ideas or plans, or others feedback on some trips I am considering.

1) Revelstoke Resort (3days), Revelstoke AT (2 Days), Tangiers Heli (1 day)

2) Silverton Mountain (3 days), Telluride (3 Days)

3) Retallack Cat Skiing, Nelson, BC (5 Days)

4) Japan (have no idea, but the footage they've been getting over there is epic

5) Alaska Heli Skiing, Haines, AK (10 Days) (probably not again as I went this year, but it's still the ultimate).

From a budget perspective...leaning towards 1 or 2

I just bought tickets for Japan yesterday for mid-Feb 2010 and planning on going to Hakuba for some touring and sidecountry poaching out of the resorts. They have (hopefully) lots of pow and the tree skiing is supposedly amazing(deciduous, no tree wells)
Wife and Stewie going with two other TAYers.

I have friends who have skied Silverton recently and say the terrain is amazing BUT it's got that pesky avy prone snowpack.
Roger's Pass is nirvana as far as I'm concerned.

Feel the same way regarding spring touring as you do but I'll still do lots of it but as far as I'm concerned it's 7 months of waiting for powder.

I had 8" new at Revelstoke in December, and it was amazing. If they didn't get hosed on their snowpack this year, it could have been THE place for inbounds shredding, and sidecountry magic. I really liked the fact that they had very few lifts, and the lines were "the longest ever" and were 1/10th of a whistler liftline on a weekend. We got to the gondi in the morning at about 840 fearing that we'd be way back in line, but we were in the fourth gondi and they loaded 10 minutes before announced opening. The hostel is cheap and clean too.

If you are near Revelstoke, I highly recommend cat skiing with the Monashee Mountain Cats. I spent 3 days with them in the beginning of March this year and it was amazing. It is a family run business and a great group of laid-back guys. I can't recommend them enough - I will be going back next year.
