Crystal's opening: more than "limited?" was created by cardog100
Does anyone have a pipeline into Crystal's patrol or other source? The "limited opening" for tomorrow, Saturday, sounds like an open call to recreate the beach scenes from JAWS; total chaos and panic on the lower mountain. Sunday might well be a very different story if control work takes place on Saturday, w/ the upper mountain opening on Sunday. My experience w/ Crystal only goes back four seasons. I'd like to know what those of you w/ an inside source and/or more experience think about the possibility of more than a "limited opening" might be for this weekend?

How coincidental that you would mention a patrol pipeline. There is now a
Crystal Ski Patrol Blog
. (They probably needed it to handle all the fan mail from the television show!) No, seriously, the intent per the blog is to provide "insider information." Probably not helpful for info for this weekend though.
There is a comments section "so you can ask questions about Crystal Mountain’s procedures, policies, rules, etc."
And TAY is mentioned in the second entry.

Thanks, Keith. I logged on, and attempted to post, but so far I am having no success. I'll keep trying.

Sounds like they're going to open on Saturday. $25 reduced lift tickets for those without a pass; wow, that's pretty damn cheap! My guess is that they're anticipating a bleak season for sales at the mountain- the economy, SR-169 closer, the economy, the economy... Good ol' $25 tester...

While the economy is a major concern for everyone--including ski areas--my guess is the tickets are reduced for the stated and obvious reason: the very few open chairs and limited runs off of the chairs coupled with the huge lift lines. If they were charging full price we would all be ranting and raving...
