Ok, am I showing my age now?  No, I am not a rocker...  Actually anymore I am listening to classical, jazz, or bluegrass.  But has anyone picked up the newer Compact Disc reissue of this incredible live album?  My LP version remains THE greatest rock and roll live album of all time (debate welcomed).
But I have to say I am dissappointed in this reissue.  Are the original masters in poor shape?  Did they just choose different recordings of tunes from different of the 3 Madison Square Garden nights? (my first love snuck out of her parents' Elizabeth NJ home to see one of the shows, I was 8 yrs. old)  I long for the LP version of "No Quarter" with probably the best guitar solo ever, the way they played off each other with the changes during the "Whole Lotta Love" medley, or the exquisite jam of "Dazed and Confused".  In hind sight the techs must have done a great job of splicing and mixing because it was just TOO good.
OK, it is still great stuff on the CD but in my humble opinion the LP recordings could NOT have been improved.  I will pay if anyone has a crisp condition LP lying around.
I just have a homerecorded Sony CrMo cassette tape I dubbed in 1981!

Probably, no one cares.  I know, I've been in the house too long listening to rain fall on my Roslyn roof and uninspired to go out into saturated snow.  Plus the only decent coffee shop in town is closed for the slow season.

Hi John, I spend a lot of time looking for LPs on eBay, and just as I thought there are plenty of copies of The Song Remains the Same out there...

music.search.ebay.com/the-song-remains-t...QfromZR40QQsacatZ306

I see a Japanese pressing in the list, which is very likely to be a super high quality pressing... it all depends on how much you want to spend!

Cheers,

Robert

This TR sucks without pics of your first love....probably in brown and gold bell bottoms and a turtle neck I'm guessing! ;)

I was fortunate enough to tape some original Beatles LPs in the early 1980s.

These recordings were (they are gone now) "way beyond compare".

So no, it is not just you. More power to you if you still have a decent turntable.

Check the thrift stores for LPs. You never know.

Of course! And the pockets were embroidered and she wore a tasseled leather vest over the turtleneck!
