Probably not news to many on this forum, but....In the spirit of pre-season stoke, I've been working my way through Scarecrow's stash of vintage ski films. Just got "License to Thrill"- I had heard lots about how classic it is, etc etc, but the footage is simply staggering. Such clean fluid, and powerful skiing on some steeps with rocks and other assorted goodness, all on straight-straight K2's. If you can get past the neon one-pieces, the footage of Schmidt, Hattrup and Plake and others is amazing.
Whoohooo! Let it snow!!
(insert your personal "happy snow dance" here).  :)

Hey Drewster. Indeed it is a classic and the skiing is amazing.

The winter of 1991/92 I worked as a night chairlift operator at Steven's Pass and rented a room in a house/shack in Skykomish. We had two movies on VHS: "License to Thrill", and "Men at Work". These were enjoyed on a 70's era TV with the clunky knobs and integrated UHF fine tune dial. Sweet!

I must have watched each of those films 10-20 times that season. We didn't have cable and I think we got KOMO 4 on the rabbit ears only every now and then. The entire house was heated with a wood stove that we cranked up until the sides glowed red.

Somehow those movies fit the lifestyle perfectly.

I would recommend "The Man Who Skied Everest".  That guy was way ahead of his time.  Scarecrow used to have it.  You might have to throw down a heafty deposit though.  It is a classic.
