Okay, know the written and rep presented details on the releasable bindings available (including releasable plates for whatever bindings one may have). Looking now for more personal experience folks have had with the releasables. I'm coming from G3s. Top of the list right now is the Voile CRB Hardwire. ANyone had problems with these? ANyone have great things to say about others (7tm etc)? All oopinions welcome. thanks!

I would guess this debate could be with how you like to brew your coffee, but here goes for me. I use a old pair of Voiles on my touring rock skis, I have a pair of 7TM's on a stiff pair of resort skis and if I am not touring I really prefer my Hammerheads releaseable or not.
Being a 50 yr old conservative skier with a hip replacement I skied with the 7TM's in light of their releaseable safety factor. I however in light of my aging legs and lazy style did not like the neutral feel of the binding. I much prefer the HH and in postion 1, as has been noted many places and times much better than I could, it is a pretty easy binding to climb in.
I also liked the Voile but they will occasionally prerelease though I can usually snug it down, I wonder how much of the releaseable factor I am losing. I think you can get a lot of different answers than mine and I suspect they are all true
Cordially

I ski with the rottafellla trp plates for years, the only time they've released is in really sloppy slow snow and I was able to twist out , they work really good for me, so long as don't put any lifters on the plate, the G-3 adapter was humility to ski with, after 2 runs I gave my partner the g-3's and bought some cobras, which will mount right to the plate
I use some 7tm for touring, they are a little tricky to get into, and not as bomber as the cobra set up.
Haven't skied volia's since my plastic boots streched the cables, but they were the easyest to reassemble after a wreck

I've got the 7tm All Mountains and the Tours, which float back and forth between a pair of Tickets and TeleDaddies. I like the way it skis a lot, though it's on the neutral side for sure. I'm curious to try the Power-Tour conversion kit and see how they ski.
I've never used the CRB, but it definitely has its fans. I think it's heavier than the 7tm (though probably not heavier than the Tour, which is a bit of a beast). I've also heard complaints of pre-releasing and wear over time (since some of the release components are plastic). That's all anecdotal though...
7tm release has been reliable for me, with no pre-releasing once I get it dialed in. I ski them at a low DIN (6-7), but I still ski pretty hard and have no problems. Getting back into them is easy as pie. My 2 cents...

I have some 7tm's that came with a pair of TeleDaddy's I bought from Kelvin. They're a bit soft, especially toward the upper range of the flex, but they provide ample control in my mind.
Nonetheless, I couldn't help the temptation to buy the 7tm Powers as an upgrade; I'd heard they ski more like Targas, which is what I have on my other skis and is a binding I like. Having skied them a few times, however, I'm not convinced I like the Powers better the the standard model. And in fact, I'd say the standard 7tm feels more like Targas to me than do the Powers. At a minimum, I feel as though I ski better in the standard model. I'm attributing this at least in part to my not having developed the technique for Powers as yet, so the jury is still out.
In any case, what I've been pleased with thus far for both pairs is the release mechanism. If memory serves, I've only had one release to-date, and it was in exactly the kind of situation in which you would want your binding to release. I generally tele in-bounds (only), but I wouldn't be worried about unwanted releases in the bc were I to bring them there.

7TMs have done well for me, with no pre-releasing after dialing in the right setting, and they still relased when I needed them to (though the don't release in rear-ward falls, unlike Voile release plates). No increase in pre-release after a fair bit of use for almost three seasons. I'm not super picky nor discerning about "feel" in different parts of the flex range, perhaps because I generally don't drop down terribly far in my turns, so aren't flexing them a whole heck of a lot anyhow. As weezer noted, they're a bit tricky to get into, though once I got the hang of the optimal position for flipping the heel throw on, this hasn't been a problem for me (but a ski partner has ongoing trouble, especially when a little tired).
I had trouble with the Voile's having screws back out and had the plates crack after a few seasons of use, though I also did more jump turns back then...
