Too Early for Snoqualmie dawn patrol? was created by jdclimber
I am thinking of a dawn patrol on Friday. Any info on the Alpental area? Web cams are offline due to bridge construction. Highway cams are non-conclusive. Any boots/skis on the ground?

Without saying too much about it, I've been patiently watching for such an opportunity. While I haven't been on the ground, those highway cams make things look sparse - and there' no snow whatsoever on either side of the crest from the looks of things.

Let me know how it was if you get the gumption to go.

Probably a good idea to bring a tobaggan (or big sheet of cardboard) if you go, in case skiing is just out of the question so you can have fun no matter what (a flask of whiskey would go well with the tobaggan).

Seems like your odds would be WAY better at Stevens. Of course that's twice the drive, but I think tomorrow's a little early still for Snoqualmie considering that it's a rain-snow mix there at the moment. Rain-snow mix, YUCK!

One of the weather gods here at NOAA reminded me that there really isn't any cold air hanging out on the East side of the crest to provide that nice counter flow of cold air that usually chills Snoqualime Pass during and after a storm. A little too early for that I guess. Stevens seems to be staying cooler due to elevation probably.

I was just up at Alpental about an hour ago and there is aprox. 5" of snow it was snowing hard. They are predicting up to a foot tonight and the way it was coming down it wouldn't suprise me.

The snow level had dropped from milepost 50 at 11:30am to milepost 47/Denny Cr at 1:15pm.
