Ahhh, what a difference a day makes. Got to the mountain the same time as yesterday and was able to park in A lot in spite of the pay lot being holiday week-end huge. Very light crowds early with wall-to-wall grooming and super enjoyable packed-pow bumps everywhere off piste. Thank you to all those that weighed in on my report yesterday that had a great day. You did a fantastic job of skier grooming all my favorite off-piste runs. And, in a weird twist, ungroomed Ferkberg actually skied better today than the valley which was pretty darn nice. And, the bluebird skies were an added bonus. Around 10:45, there was actually a line (5 minutes?) at GV, but nicely roped with singles line and everything. By 11:15, gone. That was the only line we waited in today. Was very surprised when we left that the lots ended up being almost as full as yesterday, but with a late arriving crowd, Crystal on their game, and chairs running full speed on electricity (snow making turned off), didn't notice the hordes that were up yesterday.

Very surprised I didn't see a putty colored Toyota in the front row of the free parking today.

It was nice that today no one paid attention to the CM marketing report. No lines, no waits, no drenching misters. Most of what was opened was either skier-plowed into nice packed pow bumps or thanks-for-finding-them rocks. As CD said, Iceberg was the winner, and then Valley Bowl followed later. Finally got to ski some leg-inspiring runs and no FQ groomers were required. Bear Pits has some scary punji sticks mid-run that would make any fall a skewering event. Blue skies helped make it an awesome day. Lots of rocks being dug up in the normal places - top and middle of The Frontside, Grubstake traverse, The Doors, mid Bear Pits, and by days end, the top half of Iceberg. Six will open tomorrow, but don't expect untracked as today's hikers got most of it.

Some oddities - Early afternoon, Rex and GV chair went on diesel, a very slow diesel. 1/2 hour later, back to electric. Very weird sounds coming out of C-3 diesel engine. Don't believe the Crystal telemetry which shows 4 hours of snow while we skied clear blue sunny skies.

An excellent day with #1, #2, and #3

Merry christmas,
Ken

Desert sand? I have a Kohler toilet that color (not kidding...google it), although it's a different color than Toyota's.

Lot's of commitments over the next several days, so it will be after Christmas before I get up again. Have a great Christmas everyone and enjoy the new snow.
