Crystal - 1/11 was created by CD
It felt a lot colder today than it was. The wind, freezing fog, and wet snow pellets all combined to limit visibility off and on all day and make us feel a lot colder than the air temperature would indicate. In fact, the vis, wind, and snow drove us into Campbell Basin Lodge for an 11am break. The soup was chicken curry and looked good, but I didn't have any.

The warmer temps and wet falling snow helped smooth and soften everything, particularly the aspects that didn't get sun yesterday. Due to wind, C6 was running half speed and with the poor visibility, we never went up. However, the snow in Bear Pits and Outer Ferks was excellent as was Snorking Elk Bowl (they groomed down the center of the bowl, but skiers right gave up the goods). We ended on the early side with a run out Kelly's Gap. They groomed Sluiceway and Berry Patch making for a very fast descent. Then, Lower-E was awesome! Big soft bumps everywhere. Due to no one on the hill, the vert piled up quick even with the break and early departure. A lot was mostly full. All the other lots were empty. A very quiet day on the mountain.

Aaahhh…happy you’all had some BIG goodness at times ;)…would have been there if not for possible sickness coming on…felt happy early about being sickish…watching the early morning pack drop ;)…watching the cams in between and being good doing random chores :)…felt even better watching the early afternoon bail…then shortly later there was improved vis ;) , the cams showed happy afternoon conditions…aaaahhhhh ;)…CB lodge? Wow! Don’t ever forget that! Did I use enough of those little extra things? ;D

Weirdest weather of the year changed every 5 minutes. We followed the visibility around for some high speeds on excellent grooming as we avoided frozen sunny aspects from yesterday. Hoping to dry out from the wet snow/rain, went into Campbell Basin Lodge for my once-a-year break. Who pays those prices for soup? Curry, Red Chili, and White Chili, BTW. I had my cliff bar and a fanny pack beer, but didn’t dry out after all. It did force the issue, however, as C-6 was a slow climb into the fog and it was off to an old school line down Cisco. Whooohooo, finally found an un-sun-damaged aspect, and that led to Outer Ferks  and Bear Pits. Runs of the day till the wet snow started to soak through. Nothing like a rain at the base T2B last run. Very fun, but too wet to repeat.

ddk, (the kids aren’t using emojis, they’re considered old school these days) :)
