Crystal 2/25

Must have been a mild inversion as the top of the mountain was soft even in the morning but it was firm below Rex all day. Green valley skied quite well and Ch6 opened around noon. Took me a while to realize they were loading as I was in Campbell having my Chicken Noodle Soup(attn ddk) watching it spin with no one on it . As it hadnt run the day before there was untracked all over which was quite manky at noon- really had to keep em pointed down hill. The more east faces on
Campbell had a slight breakable crust so I only did one hike to the throne. Never opened A basin. Massive blown crown off the king- looked like three feet and progressed thru the trees on the ridge. Was astonished to see tracks down the sunny snowfields from East Peak. Either someone knows something I don't or are really stupid. Didn't go off tho so they got away with it!

Those south-west slopes on East weren't wind loaded and rode nicely.  Large slab crown seen on north facing Bullion ridge and north-east slopes off East Peak looked wind loaded; didn't ride those, but others did and looks like they were ok.  Just filling in the gap from "knowing something" to "stupid"

I am certainly no expert but my observations and reports do not suggest that wind loaded slopes are the only serious hazard now. I have seen that face slide in the past . Did you dig any pit on that aspect?

Neither time nor energy to start a big TAY avy debate, just wanted to state some facts/observations having been one of those up there on Sunday. I guess I don't think it astonishing that people were riding/skiing East Peak and I didn't dig pits, but some did.
