Nice day that got better and better. A little new and it was snowing pretty hard early this morning added a nice new layer over the left overs from yesterday. Light crowd early and no lift lines or crowds anywhere – at times you almost couldn’t see anyone around. Weather and vis kept improving, by the time we left at 3pm the sky was blue and the sun was cooking the slopes. Everything was nice quality cut pow early but by late afternoon the sun impacted slopes went to northwest spring soft pow – will not be pretty early tomorrow. South looked like the place to go and will be the place to go for a while – at least the north facing slope – The King looked big. Did a afternoon run out North – nice except for the bottom scraped ice world, but lordy that’s a long chair ride. Otherwise a very nice casual day with #1. Finished with some REX Showtime and Sunnyside runs.
Other – Soup was Roasted Tomato Basil. The CB lodge homemade Applesauce was very good. The A lot was pretty full – not sure how many were pay folks, some overflow into C lot and B had some cars. No Taco truck today – sounds like a weekend thing.

So true. I spent the morning testing the new Rossignol honeycomb tip skis on Green Valley chair. Wow it was fun, and fresh 10" powder lines were fast and fun under the chair, on west face, snorting elk bowl, and even green valley bowl under the gondola. Liked the new 188 super7 best, squad wanted to go too fast for this old guy. One southback run to end the day. SE slopes there had a light crust, N were nice and soft.

You guys beat me to the report, but I'll add a few things anyway. First run (9:30) was down Campbell Basin and it was a driving whiteout - could not even see the ground in front of me. The snow conditions were not great, either; lots of frozen chunder under variable depth fresh. Went straight to Northway after that, and found decent powder stashes all around in the upper half. Was scabby and thin with icy patches lower, but was happy to stay over there. By midday the weather cleared and the sun came out. After having a fair day North, decided to give South another try. The King was looking pretty appealing, and after a long hike, the King delivered big time. There were a lot of icy spots, so I decided to skip Pinball after a long look, and went for the Appliance chutes. Money: generally soft settled powder with a light wind crust, and no tracks. Ended the day on a high.

Avie Basin to Brand X – It was all good again. If I had to pick a winner, it would be Penny Dawg's. The sunny aspects got hammered and were heavy, frozen-crap-in-tomorrow-morning soft at the end of the day (but awesome today if you carried momentum and attitude). A ski-season's-over lack of crowd allowed untracked till nearly day's end. North facers will be good tomorrow.

But at least the groomer icy run out is not as long on a Queen run...and its easier to take a swing up in CB on those cycles, not so easy in the middle of Northway lift...but we all know, each to their own, kinda like you and PD runs....]Funny coming from a guy that does the 13.5 minute Forest Queen to top of Six ride many, many time a day.

Yeah DDK I appreciate that you guys stick to the same patterns otherwise as much as you guys ski I would have to work harder to get to my stuff!
Another option to save time is to cut and paste/template the ski portion of your daily reports for the next day and just fill in the weather conditions, parking and soup reports as needed.
Nice picture CMSkier of the FF!
FannyPack skier we salute you!
