February 10, 2013 Crystal Mountain

Warmed up with a couple Valley-Bergs where the north-facing Valley showed promise and Iceberg showed icy overuse. Powder Bowl into Bear Pits is getting firmer but smoother – 2 runs. The rest of the day was spent skiing various chutes off Northway Peak. Definitely the best snow of the last few days. Lower Northway is still good in the shade on the edges of the runs. At 1:00 it got hot and sunny aspects mushed up. Looked like mashed potatoes on the Frontside and no one was skiing it. Northfacers will stay great, sunny aspects will be worse for the heat. A big crowd today, but after 2 runs they all went in or sat on the deck for soup and beer as we never waited to load the chair.

Was gonna whine about the after 9pm report start - way passed my bed time, but just noticed that this report is for last year...cant remember what last year on the 10th was like - oh I was at Alta...

Spent all day in the sidecountry skiing 6" near surface facets on a firm base that was fast and velvety.
Great day... but snowboarders were messing up the skintrack leaving hudge holes that interrupted my zen skinning trance.

Also noticed some ugly ski tracks...people crossing tracks instead of nice separate lines and spooning....very ugly to look at. People need to concentrate on the aesthetics of their tracks and not just ski willy-nilly.

Kinda funny when the main thread post tittle date get updated to the correct year, but most of the other posts still show the wrong year.
