Crystal - 11/20 - Ouch!

My Oh My…how to start this report???? No marketing needs to be included today…If you didn’t show up today!!!! Thank You and also I’m very Sorry! Today went off the chart, bunch of new smoke that apparently no one expected (sorry Mike) , knee deep cold smoke, big BLUE BIRD sky (that I was plannin for!!!!). Fair early crowd forced me to ride CHex and Rex rather than the Bucket to start the day, but that just made things better cuase of the annnntttttiiiiiicccccaaaapppaaaatiiooonnnnnn!. GV bowl to start!!! Deeper, lighter, Rocky Mt. smoke! Ouch! Down to IceFerkberg! Nice soft deep bumps in the big sun! Pretty much a early morning frenzy with a fairly light crowd – no lift lines, but everything tracked out pretty quickly – but the left overs were sweet! Rumors had HC opening around 10 or so….ouch oh my again, it did but I missed the first laps in the Basin, so dropped into PB right away! Patrol made everyone ski pretty low early (sad), but it was still a great run (noticed later just before HC shut down at 12:30 that folks got to do the very top center lines….oh well) The runs of the day for me? Top of ShowTime to BreakOver into the bottom of Showtime, SunnySide (just for JD, multiple times), Valley from the top of REX (really big) !!!!!! to IceFerkBerg a very fun run(did see Mr Ferk finally having a good time on HC), also enjoyed M-World early, the last Doors into Lucky (Lucky skier right bumps!!! Oh my). There was a lot of warm sun on the front of REX, so those slopes got sun hammered, shady slope help up really big and fun. Finished early at 1pm with lots of Vert. Rode the Bucket once late in day just to get that streak out of the way…was a good bucket ride with Jim. Pay lot made some effort, but still only half full, C full, B maybe half??? So a fair crowd but no real lines….Big sad note - Crystal closed on Monday! ddk (ouch).

I resisted the urge and went BC with PNWBrit(banned) and our dogs Chugach and Gus up towards 3Way Peak.
Darn if Silver Basin was tracked out with skin tracks up Dave's Delight, Silver Basin and even tracks down Cannonball. Darn place looked like a ski area. :'(

Yes , he came up and said hello when we were at the base giving the dogs a well earned cheeseburger each. He looked stoked! He said you said there wasn't enough coverage for you . :

First weekend I've skied both days in 20 years.

Still found some untracked lines out in silver after 2:00...
