For all you folks who hate on me and send me nasty PM's calling me a troll, saying I never post TR's and stuff (as well as my buddies of course), I say neener neener. Here's a TR.

;)

I'm in Kirkwood with my son for another "junior super-extremo comp" (you know, the one where the kids don't know how to ski?) only the comp can't run because it's the mother of all snowstorms here. Check out these stats. Storm total below essentially began Wednesday night or so:

Last 24 Hours  21-25"
Last 48 Hours 60-66"
Storm Total 139-153"
Last 7 Days 161-179"
Seasonal Total Range 685-709"
Base Depth 226- 271"

The balcony of our rented condo is literally filled with snow. We can't see any daylight.

Skiing is epic, snow is bottomless. It's full on nuclear winter. Wind is howling, snow refilling tracks almost as fast as they're made and this is one of the coolest ski areas I've ever been to.

There's so much snow and wind they can't keep the unloading areas passable on some of the lifts and the 'trollers, despite working their butts off can't get lifts open because there's SO much snow, cornices and avy hazard despite dozens of bombs going off all day. As  result there are something like 4 of the area's 14 or so lifts operating.

I think we'll be coming back here.  I know many of you will be interested to know that the "junior super extremo" will go off tomorrow no matter what, but it looks like the weather will cooperate and the storm will lift, and I know you'll wish us the best of luck!

I'll bet your kids told you that EXTREMO is actually a cool word.

Your timing was perfect.  With the current storm cycle, there should be some incredible riding during the competition.   Jill and I usually get season passes at Kirkwood because the terrain is so varied, they have backcountry access gates and being on the Crest they receive huge amounts of snow along with  fierce wind.  We usually buy a senior 5WOOD pass for $149 and there are no taxes on the season passes.  Incredibly cheap, seeing a day ticket is $76. This year we were unable to use our season passes due to my spine surgery and Jill's ACL reconstruction. Kirkwood rolled over our passes until the 2011/12 season.  Great customer service.

Hopefully, you will be able to traverse out to Martin Point, Covered Wagon Peak and Mellisa Corey.  A few years ago The Sierra was hit by a powerful storm cycle and it was named “Miracle March”.  Looks like a repeat scenario this season.  Post some photos if you’re not submerged in the “white room”.   ;)

Rock on Oft, best to Little Piste, say hi to Frankie and the boys for me. Now how about some nice blue bird ski track pics in that TR, perhaps some Garmin Tracks to Google Earth including heart rate and Hero cam vids, I know you've got your tech on.
