Squeaked through before they started blasting at the snow shed at 8 a.m. -- 10" of heavy snowball new at the base, with lots of deeper wind transport down Debbie's and in the shots. "Balance" practice snow, especially for the skinnier skis. Upper opened at around 10 and Nash was incredible chalky boot-top powder all the way down to the cat track. Free refills for lap 2 before heading back to work -- I'll bet it was fantastic all afternoon, since it was dumping snow and blowing hard all day.

The wind really started to kick down about 11:00, both lifts ended up going on wind hold for a while (not sure how long, we left around 12:30). However before they did, you could rip down Nash like a groomed run, and between cycles the wind would buff it smooth for your next lap.

Yeah, it was fun while it lasted. No ice, no bumps, no visibility . . . my partner literally got blown off his feet entering Adrenalin on the last lap! We left around 12:30 as well, don't know if or when the lifts ran again.

Yesterday was the first time the wind has ever stopped me when I was going full speed. I had just dropped out of the trees above chair 1. The powder was about two feet deep (some wind blown) and a HUGE sustained gust stopped me in my tracks. I am not an expert but I am guessing the wind was blowing at least 40 MPH for long periods of time. Maybe more. Does anyone know for sure? I've been up at Alpy on windy days before but this was a step above.
