I had a fun ski down Charlestown hill from 55th to the beach. Didn't hit concrete once...fun stuff. Wife had cocoa w/ Fluff vodka waiting when I got home. Made the afternoon co...
Nice to meet you up there, I was the group of 4 that dug the pits near where the vidy starts....it was classic cascade snow that day, but still made for a fun day out.Steve
I was up there solo too....spent some time flying a kite on the snowfield, kinda fun (no, not the really cool skiing type of kite, more the lazy at the beach kind.)
Hey Guys, Nice to meet you, SplitBrdr and I were headed down as you were going up....glad the vodka worked and and it wasn't ruined by the scotch....ahhhh...skiiing in september.Steve
I was in the first party to ski down, tracks lookers left at top. We left the top at 11:30 and it was too late then. Should have left Seattle at 3:30 instead of 4:30.Fun, but a little crea...
We too skied the SW Chutes on Saturday. Left Morrison Creek @ 2:30a and went up the Morrison Creek trail / drainage. I found this way pretty straight forward and it didn't seem like a...
How high up did you go on the Paradise? What's opened up in terms of cracks...most importantly the large gaper(s) in the 8000 foot range?thanks...steve
Thanks Ron, Were you able to ski all the way down or did you have to walk out the valley?
Thinking of heading up there this weekend to help a friend keep his streak alive and have a few questions about route conditions. How are the cracks on the glacier? Are things opened, closed or just...
The ascending traverse might have been us. We skied down to about 6900 then picked out way up and over to about 7200 on the crescent glacier. Bill was able to pick a route through the rock...
I don't know if it was that high, well maybe 8K, we hit the same traverse line that I hit last year with a gaggle to TAY folks (we knew KAM in common, but he gets around, I hear). We skied the f...
I take it the you skied the climbing route, not the SW Chutes? Did you take the back way from Randal (23), if so, how did the snow cover at the bottom of the chutes look?Thanks....
More information please...I'm leaning toward a couple days in the area this weekend....Were you able to skin in or did you have to boot pack?Ranger said road was clear to within 2 miles of trailhead,...
Sorry for my lack of memory, but how far is Morrison from Cold Springs? Either mileage or time.....
Well 2 weeks in a row I got to ski the Nisqually Chute under blue skies with fresh snow... All those that followed are welcome for the trail breaking that I (we) did....it was worth if for first...
I was in the group of 3 that were the first ones down the chutes. I have to say that it was a pretty good run, I agree with the snow observations...but given my expectations it was quite fine......
Kam, you were the only thing that Ned and I had in common...well almost... Anyway...to unmask myself...you may know me better as one of the 'Pajama Boys' from Sorcerer Lake Lodge... ;)
We skied down the couloir, out the bottom, then glided across the flat (and up) to the 'rib' on the left edge of the glacier (in the moraine?). At about 6200 we cut back onto the glacier proper...
We debated between this and the Paradise Glacier as well. The coverage at the bridge was pretty good. Maybe 3 feet? But that's just a guess I wasn't really paying much attention....
