It's always nice to see a report from one of the less-visited, dare I say, "exotic" areas. Thanks for posting.
Christoph,I was up there on Tuesday as well, did I run into you and a buddy (and a hound) at the top of the Palmer? That was some creamy, sweet, corn!
Strong work! I've contemplated a similar trip but thought about including a loop on the Timberline Trail as well. This led to a bike approach-circumambulation/trailrun-summit-ski descent-bike ret...
Silas, Did I talk to you and your buddy drinking beers just past Chocolate Falls?
Stuart is always worth the trip. Way to think big and get after it.
Great report, very interesting. Oregon represent!
Yeah, eight miles feels about right. About half road, half above the trees on the ridge. With the short days right now you would need a pretty early start if you want to get more than a couple of laps...

Nicely done, with 10 out of 10 for originality in destination selection.
Did you catch the person in the first pic just as he was about to eat sh*t? What is going on there?Nice work on Stuart, a worthy destination no matter how many times you've been there.
Strong work! Both times I've attempted Jefferson it was without skis and I regretted not having them. Way to get after it.

High Flying Pilot and I skied it yesterday and it was surprisingly good. I had fears of boiler plate ice, but things softened up just enough to make for some pretty good skiing.
Love the first picture, now that's "skinning from the car"!
Any parking issues?
Nice, ever since my trip in January, I've been waiting for Silver Star to come in again. And waiting. I love that place, and during the next ice age it's going to provide Portlanders with fa...
Very cool. I've wondered if there was much skiing up there.

Not sure about Snowgrass, we considered it as well. The issue is that the road spends a lot of time above 4000' on the way the to TH and it only takes a shady corner to screw you. If you do make...
If only the Gorge had a consistent 2,000' snow level, I've got to think that this place would be hugely popular with skiers. Instead we only saw a couple of people on Sunday, two solo hikers...
We came in from the north, at Sunset Falls State Park, or County Park, or whatever, on the North Fork of the Lewis. Go through the park, cross a creek, and turn left on to the 41 road. After a few mil...
There is an open area between the treeline and the steeper slopes, right around where the Loowit trail crosses the climbing route. You can see it (from above) in the second photo I posted, and in the...
