An Almost Epic Steven’s 3/16/22 was created by avajane
Got up early and skied all day in Classic Northwest Powder conditions! Rocked the Ultrafat K2 Hellbents for the first time in several years…Staying on top of this snow was the place to be! I had hoped for Bottomless Laps down Southern Cross, but reluctantly settled for 8” of base builder snow on top of old, sometimes hard junk. Southern Cross has mechanical issues, so we went up Hogsback to Tye Mill and got First Chair on Tye, and first tracks on Corona Bowl instead. The skiing was not easy - but rugged and variable. Heavy, wind effected, mashed potatoes, were all words of the day. Old growth deep trees skied best, but only where nobody had been in a few days. Speed and float were our friends. Eventually skied every open chair except Daisy, and enjoyed lots of variable groomers. Ice was really nowhere to be found. The fatty skis hurt my knees too much on the hardpack, so I traded them in for my Mantra’s. Afternoon chop was nearly unturnable on them, by then. We tried once and traversed out…Probably got 25/30k of vertical in, and will sleep well tonight. Working the lifts the next two days. Hopefully some new snow covers the mank up…

Good job avoiding the Daisy chair.
I once loaded it by accident in a white out storm with snow pluming from the trees.
It actually does take about an hour to ride that lift to the top as it is set on veeeerrry slooooooooowwww mooootion.....it's hard to tell if you are actually moving at all.

I was happy to see you staffing the Kehr chair, with a big welcoming smile, awhile back...
Thanks again for your good work on the hill!
